Issue 3 of the brilliant Jackpot comic included the cover of a ‘Why Be Bored?’ booklet to be built up over the following weeks.

I remember collecting this book (aged 8) and appreciated the gift of anything free, but also recall being a little bemused by it. ‘But I’m not bored!’ What I probably meant was not bored enough to take up action painting or aircraft spotting.

Among the strips hitting the Jackpot this week were Marathon Mutt (artist John Geering), The Incredible Sulk (Jim Petrie) Milly O’Naire and Penny Less (Sid Burgon) and, on the back page, Laser Eraser (Robert Nixon).
