Here's another fantastic Ian Kennedy Eagle front cover, as Dan Dare and his fellow soldiers on a besieged Earth Fort in space suffer a bombardment of the Mekon's high-gravity rays. Scriptwriter Pat Mills brought a tone of military procedure and hard technology to this phase of Dan Dare, which was probably the closest that his revived adventures got to the style of the original Eagle, and showcased the very best of Kennedy's talents.

This was still early days for the new Eagle, and the comic mixed comic strips, such as Dare and Fred Baker and Rex Archer's Grange Hill-style Crowe Street Comp., with photo-strips such as schoolkid survivalist saga Walk or Die and the returning undercover cop tale Sgt. Streetwise.
