On this day, 4 June 1983 … A young Sam Slade grabbed the front cover of The Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, leading a platoon of Commandroids against a squadron of Samudroids in the Great Robot War, as dead Sam from the future revisited his past lives in Robo Hunter, inimitably realised by the wonderful Ian Gibson. Elsewhere in this 2000AD prog, there’s a triple-helping of classic Carlos Ezquerra: the opening episode of Judge Dredd serial ‘Condo’, as Joe investigates the mysterious crash of a giant space condominium; a Chris Lowder Time Twister ‘The Impossible Murder’, in which twin brothers both hop through time to murder each other; and a zarjaz pin-up of The Mighty One himself. Alan Moore and Jim Baikie’s Skizz sees the clutches of press and state closing in on the shipwrecked interpreter from the Tau Ceti Imperium, while Rogue Trooper recalls dark tales from his past in part two of ‘Milli-Com Memories’.
