On this day, 29 March 1975: Valiant

A pop-tastic new look for Valiant saw a particularly exciting free gift promotion, the removal of Lion from the comic's masthead (after the two titles had merged in May 1974), and the introduction of three new stories: Sergeant Strong, The Test Match Terrors and The Potters of Poole Street. Valiant's days were numbered, however. It would remain as a standalone title for another eighteen months but Battle Picture Weekly, the first of a new style of boys' adventure comics, had launched earlier in March 1975. Valiant would eventually be merged into Battle.
