Poor angry white kids

Thank you Pat Mills for notification of what looks to be a fantastic panel discussion on the social backdrop into which the likes of Action and 2000AD were published in the 1970s and 1980s. Jim McCarthy (currently inking the return of Bad Company in 2000AD) will also be on the panel:

POOR ANGRY WHITE KIDS. Cine-Excess Cult Cinema Festival. Discussion at panel entitled 'Poor Angry White Kids: Action Excess and the Cult Universe of Pat Mills' Saturday 14th November. The panel will consider Pat's work in relation to wider social trends and tensions in British society during the 1970s and 1980s, with a special focus on Action Magazine and 2000AD.

Pat and graphic artist Jim McCarthy talk with Professor Martin Barker, who wrote the seminal book on Action magazine. Martin will chair the event and conduct a Q and A with Pat on his work with interventions from other panel members on the social significance of British comic art. University of Brighton's Grand Parade Building, 12pm, Saturday 14th November.
