Kevin O’Neill on Ro-Busters.

Time and again I think there was *no need* for 2000AD covers, especially in their early years, to be quite so good, so mould-breaking, so respectful of their young readership. I consider them an art movement in themselves.

This episode of Ro-Busters featured a high-octane flying car chase through an underground tube system that managing editor Bob Bartholomew hated and tried to censor.

Motivated in part by this management interference, O’Neill and writer Pat Mills brought back the concept of the Terror Tube - faster, more violent and thrill-powered - for the launch of Nemesis the Warlock just over a year later.
